SOL Testing Information

The spring SOL testing for high school students will take place May 27th through June 5th. Please click HERE for a detailed schedule.

Senior Athlete Recognition Night

Parents, coaches and senior athletes that completed the season in good standing have received invitations to the Senior Athlete Recognition Night and reception which will be held on June 1st at 5:30pm in the gym. The spring sports awards program will start at 7:05 pm that evening. RSVP's for the senior night can either be emailed to [email protected] or call 648-5471 and leave your name and total number coming to the event - including your senior athlete. We need an accurate count for the food order.

Senior Scholarship Assembly

The Senior Scholarship Assembly will be Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00 AM in the auditorium. The senior signing party will follow the assembly.

Blankets for the Homeless Back Pack Drive

Kempsville High School is once again participating in the annual Blankets for the Homeless Back Pack Drive. If you have a Back Pack or a book bag that is still in good condition please bring it by the Attendance Office. Blankets for the Homeless was founded by a Kempsville High School Alumni. This is a very easy way to give back to our community.

Kempsville Students Travel Far and Wide

Congratulations to Katie Stoakley, Antonio Carrigan, Jeanette  Lam, Ally Will, Sydney Parker, Hunter Sirrine, Rebecca  Schwartzman, and Marie Shoen, who competed at the DECA  International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL  April 25-29. Sydney Parker, Marie Shoen, and Ally Will advanced  to the final competition in the School-Based Enterprise event for Kempsville’s school store, The Tradin’ Post. Thank you all for representing both Kempsville High School and Virginia DECA so well.

All Night Grad

Seniors, just in case you still haven’t purchased your ANG ticket, we have several reasons for you to get your ticket today! We will have FOOD, GAMES, TATTOO ARTIST, BALLOON ART, MOVIES, MUSIC, a PHOTO BOOTH, and TONY THE MAGICIAN!  Tony is a KHS graduate who has wowed his classmates with his magic!  So get your ticket now.  The ticket form is attached.  Bring in the ticket form and the $80 payment, or both can be mailed into the school office.
Parents, make sure to go to impressioninprint.com and order your Senior the senior sign!  What a great way to announce to your neighbors and family how proud you are of your senior graduating from our great school!  The sign is $25 dollars (plus a small shipping fee) and it is mailed directly to you!  It doesn't get better than that.  Oh, wait, but it does!  ANG receives $8 for each sign sold to help with the All Night Grad celebration.  So order yours today!

Parents,  as we near the end of this school year, ANG would love to have your help!  We still have lots to do and as Mr. Harris has said many times, "many hands make light work!"  Please join us for our next ANG meeting on Tuesday, May 12th at 7 pm in the library.  We are looking for CHAPERONES for the night of the event.

National Honor Society

Membership in the National Honor Society is open to all juniors and seniors who have been enrolled at Kempsville High School for at least one semester, possess a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have completed or be enrolled in four of the following classes: World Language 3, 4 or 5 or 1 or 2 of a second World Language; Chemistry; Physics; Algebra II (year) and Trigonometry (semester) or Algebra II/Trigonometry (combined in one year); Math Analysis; and any additional AP or Honors course. Students must also demonstrate leadership, participation in extracurricular and/or community activities, and service to the school and/or community. Students must also pass review by the Faculty Council who seek faculty input into the above as well as issues concerning behavior, integrity and character. Free Office Programs for VBCPS Students

VBCPS is taking advantage of this initiative, which will provide every student in our school division access to the Office 365 suite at no charge. Students must know their network username and password to take advantage of this program. Students who do not know their network credentials can contact any of their teachers, Library Media Specialists or Computer Resource Specialists for assistance in setting up a new password.

  • Students can install the software on up to five compatible PCs and Macs, plus five tablets (including iPad)
  • The software may be used with OneDrive for automatic device syncing
  • The Office subscription lasts for as long as your child is a VBCPS student
  • You will receive automatic software updates

Kempsville High College Visits

Many colleges and universities will be sending representatives to Kempsville High School and we welcome students to come meet with as many of the admissions counselors as they would like. However, they will need to place their name(s) on the sign up sheets in the "college visit" binder in the guidance department. Students should sign up at least 24 hours prior to the arrival of the specific admissions counselor that they would like to meet with. On the day of the visits, passes will be distributed to the students allowing them to come to our department for the informational sessions with the requested colleges or universities.

Parking Permits

Parking Pass Parking privileges are available to all students with a verified Virginia Driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance. The school or the School Division accepts no responsibility for theft or damage to vehicles while on school property. Parking applications may be picked up in the main office and also are available on Kempsville's web site by clicking HERE. Cost of a parking permit is $40.00 by cash only. Students without a valid parking decal may not park on school grounds. Reserved spaces for faculty members are clearly marked, and students may not use those spaces. Any student in violation of these parking regulations will have his or her car retained on school premises and subject to a monetary fine of $35.00. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Wolf, the Student Activities Coordinator.

Students can now access their grades and attendance through the Student Information System StudentVUE. For instructions on how to access this resource, click HERE. Please note that while this site is available from anywhere with internet access, the route used to access it depends on whether working from with the school network (from school) or outside the school network (from home).
