Teacher Appreciation

May 1-5 is nationally recognized as Teacher Appreciation Week.  Teachers at Kempsville HS go above and beyond on a daily basis to provide incredible learning experiences for all of our students.  To help you show your appreciation for a  teacher, we are providing the opportunity for students and parents to send messages of appreciation and gratitude to our amazing teachers.  This can be to your classroom teachers, advisers, or coaches - any KHS staff member who has made an impact on your life. Please take a few moments to send our teachers a note of appreciation and we will pass them along to them.  Your kind words mean so much and our teachers deserve to hear your positive feedback!

Focus 360 - Junior Achievement Company of the Year!

Focus 360, a student company from the Entrepreneurship and Business Academy at Kempsville High School, won Junior Achievement Company of the Year at the Spark Tank Light Speed Event on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. The company is comprised of 5 student managers, Annika Ashcraft, Andre Mas, Jonathan McGlothian, My’Anna Williams, and Tyana Wills. These students created the product known as Cyclone, which is a handheld fidget toy that helps people of all ages focus on tasks at hand. The students competed against other student-run companies from the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area High Schools. Most of the students in the other schools participate in this as a class project, whereas, Focus 360 met after school to put together their company plans. Their teacher mentor is Ms. Ashley Houchins and their business mentor is Austin Frangoules from Rate Estate. Both Ms. Houchins and Mr. Frangoules played integral roles in the company’s success.

We are so proud of these students and all they have accomplished in their first year of competition! If you haven’t purchased a cyclone yet, they are on sale for $5 a piece – Give it a Spin!
